Littlemore is a mainly residential district about 2.5 miles (4km) to the Southeast of the City of Oxford. Until the early 20th century most of the Littlemore are was rural land and as such most housing in the area is of a 1920s - 1950s style.
Dominating the southeast side of the district on Sandford Road is the former Littlemore Asylum building founded in 1846 which has now been converted into attractive and modern private dwellings and renamed St George's Manor. Several new extensions have been made to the Manor called Surman and Radcliffe House.
The SAE Institute moved its headquarters in 2008 to the former Yamanouchi building, itself using a building from the former hospial.
Notably the area well serves the Oxford Business Park and the BMW Plant in Cowley whilst guests maintain a residential feel to their accommodation.
